Job Description

If you thrive in a high-accountability environment, love turning vision into action, and have the grit to push a company to the next level, this is your seat at the table. SMD Management is seeking to hire a Director of Property Management to work side by side with the Founder/Owner for their next stage of growth. This is not just a maintenance role. This is not a “keep the lights on” role. This is a growth-driving, results-focused leadership position reporting directly to the Owner. You’ll oversee Maintenance, Client Management, Property Management, and Leasing — ensuring they operate as a unified, high-performing machine. You’ll be the Owner’s strategic partner, helping take the company from 400 doors to 750 doors by December 31, 2027 . That means building scalable systems, holding teams accountable, and ensuring every initiative is executed with precision and urgency. What You'll Do Lead and mentor 7 direct reports, instilling a culture of accountability, organization, and proactive problem-solving . Translate the Owner’s strategic vision into actionable plans with clear timelines, measurable goals, and consistent follow-through. Build scalable operational systems that can handle rapid growth without sacrificing service quality. Oversee property performance metrics - from occupancy rates and maintenance turnaround times to client satisfaction scores, and use data to drive decisions. Streamline cross-department workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure projects move efficiently to the finish line. Serve as the escalation point for complex client or operational issues, ensuring swift, empathetic, and decisive resolution. Partner with the Owner on annual goal-setting, budgeting, and KPI tracking, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth strategy. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal property regulations and industry best practices. What You'll Bring A proven track record of scaling operations — ideally in a high-growth home services, property management or real estate environment. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of deadlines. A proactive mindset — you anticipate challenges before they arise and take ownership of solutions. Strong financial acumen — comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels. A “finish-line” mentality — you don’t just start projects, you ensure they’re completed to the highest standard. The stamina and drive to work hard, lead from the front, and push the company toward ambitious growth targets. Why You'll Love It Here A senior leadership role with direct influence over the company’s growth and client experience. Competitive salary, performance-based bonuses tied to growth milestones, and comprehensive health benefits. PTO and paid holidays to recharge and spend time with family. Annual professional development budget to invest in your growth. A collaborative, supportive culture where high standards are matched with high trust. Location This position is based in the Greater Baltimore Area . Candidates must be able to work on-site and be actively engaged with our teams and properties. If you’re ready to be the Owner’s right hand, lead with vision, and push a company from 400 to 750 doors in less than two years, we want to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
