Wind Speed/Direction or WSD for short is an a snapshot of the expected wind speed and direction that is forecast to occur within the following hour. The direction is reported using 36 points of a compass, within one of the 10-degree increments.

WSD can therefore be quite accurate and very useful in navigation as well as engineering and construction, and there are numerous uses of WSD information.
